Diathermy

  • Electrosurgery is the application of a high-frequency electric current to biological tissue as a means to cut, coagulate, desiccate, or fulgurate tissue. In Electro Surgical Unit, the heat is transferred to tissue from a preheated object. The current heats only the electrode and does not pass through the patient’s body. True electrosurgery involves the cutting or coagulation of tissues by passing a high- frequency current through the target tissue
  • The longwave diathermy  radiates much less than Shortwave Diathermy as Frequency of operation is less than 1MHZ and Power is below 75watts, whereas SWD has the frequency of 27.12Mhz and power of 250watts and above. There are many advantages of Longwave Diathermy, which is also called as CET technique. There are studies, which shows, it gives better result than SWD and Ultrasound.
  • Pulsed Short Wave Diathermy is a heavy-duty machine mounted on castors for mobility in the Hospitals and Clinics. It has a storage compartment with a locking arrangement for keeping the accessories Pulsed Shortwave Diathermy is utilising the short wave at the frequency of 27.12 MHz, which is pulsed at a rate selected by the therapist. The pulse frequency range is from 15 Hz to 200 Hz. The maximum Intensity produced by the machine is watts. The pulse duration is constant at 0.4 ms and square pulsed waves are used.
  • The term ‘Diathermy’ means to heat through Diathermy is applied using electromagnetic waves that produce heat, but non-ionizing. Pulsed Short Wave Diathermy Fibre is a heavy-duty machine mounted on castors for mobility in the Hospitals and Clinics. It has a storage compartment with a locking arrangement for keeping the accessories
